IC INFORMATION
[Character]: Sasuke Uchiha
[Canon]: Naruto
[Age]: 12
[Canon Point]: His "death" during the fight with Haku in the Land of Waves arc.

[History]: When Sasuke was 6 years old his family was murdered by his older brother Uchiha Itachi. The young Uchiha came home to a ghost town, the only thing that seemingly saved him was that he'd been running late from his time at the Ninja Academy. The silence was eerie as Sasuke stepped into the Uchiha complex, no one was to be found. As he made his way to his own home at a run, the first image to greet his eyes were his parents dead bodies lying prone on the floor. Hovering above them was a dark form that would be revealed as his brother, Itachi. Sasuke was at first in shock. How was it possible that the brother he'd known and loved had done this? Sasuke didn't want to believe it but the look coming from his brother's eyes don't lie. The young Uchiha turned tail and ran begging for his life, waiting for the slice of the katana to cut through his small body — it never came. Itachi came in front of Sasuke and told him that he would be allowed to live. He would be allowed to live with the hate of Itachi burning in his heart and that that hate should fuel the young Uchiha to continue clinging to his pathetic life and perhaps one day Sasuke would be stronger than Itachi himself. From that day forward Sasuke's life would become one of lonely days and nights, and an endless hatred burning from deep within.

Now, there was no one to give him praise, there was no one to urge him forward in his training except for himself. This didn't stop Sasuke. He used the memory of his brother to further progress himself and while he didn't graduate early from the Ninja Academy as his brother had, he did graduate at the top of his class. Within the class there was one ninja that Sasuke could have had a close bond to because they were both orphans — Uzumaki Naruto — but because of Naruto's apparent idiocy, the young Uchiha wasn't interested in the blond.

Upon graduating from the Ninja Academy Sasuke was placed in a cell with Uzumaki Naruto and Haruno Sakura —Team 7. The cell would be lead by Hatake Kakashi as their instructor. Though Sasuke would prefer to work alone, Kakashi's instruction would teach the young Uchiha the value of teamwork. Their very first exercise together would be a mission to retrieve two bells that were tied loosely to Kakashi's waist. The object of the mission was that whoever could reach the bells before noon would actually get to eat lunch. Whoever didn't get a bell would be forced to go without lunch as well as be sent back to the Ninja Academy. (Kakashi had planned ahead and had told the three young graduates not to eat breakfast that same day otherwise they'd be sure to throw up.) Of course the exercise would cause discord in the group and sure enough each ninja starts to think only of themselves and their own stomachs, with the exception of Sakura who's only focusing on Sasuke. Kakashi has very little hope for this particular cell as he can see that they're not really willing to work together (Kakashi also hasn't passed a single ninja cell in his years of 'teaching'.) While Naruto is fighting Kakashi, the jonin (top level ninja) takes out a book and begins reading, stating that he won't need to use both his hands or all his attention to fight Naruto. When it comes to Sasuke however, Kakashi is forced to put the book away. Sasuke is surprisingly quick and is the first to actually touch the bells on Kakashi's waist. At the end of the exercise neither of the three rookies have gotten a bell and Naruto has been tied to a post as punishment for trying to cheat. Kakashi tells the three that the reason they failed was because they didn't work together. He also tells the group that he'll give them a second chance, and that Sakura and Sasuke are free to eat, but Naruto is not allowed to have any food. Sasuke realizes that if they are going to get the bells, they are going to have to work together. In order to do this, Naruto has to have some food, and the Uchiha becomes the first to offer part of his meal to Naruto. Kakashi returns as Sakura's offering her own food to Naruto and tells them that they have passed the test because they didn't blindly listen to what he told them, and instead thought for themselves and helped out their teammate. From here on out the three, plus Kakashi, would complete various missions in the village. (Mostly menial ones such as picking trash and rescuing cats.)

It wouldn't take long for the team to receive their first big mission, mainly thanks to Naruto's pestering. Team 7's task would be to escort a bridge builder, Tazuna, back to his home town to finish a bridge that would greatly help the country exit their state of poverty. What the team wasn't told was that the bridge builder had a hit out on his life. The business tycoon Gato is virtually in charge of the Land of Waves and he'll be damned if this bridge will ruin his enterprise, and he'll do whatever it takes to get what he wants. While on the road Cell 7 is attacked by a pair of chunin (2nd level ninja) the Demon Brothers. During the attack Kakashi is supposedly killed. In his shock, it being his first battle, Naruto freezes and Sasuke comes to rescue him. Sasuke shows immense skill as he battles the demon brothers, taking very little time to get them away from Naruto. Seeing their target, the Demon Brothers focus on Tazuna. Sakura moves to protect the bridge builder and Sasuke moves to protect Sakura. Kakashi shows up at this point and effectively stops the Demon Brother's in their tracks. With the battle over, Sasuke asks Naruto if he's alright all the while with a smirk on his face.

As the group continues their journey, after learning just why Tazuna's life is in danger. The group encounters the rogue ninja Zabuza. Zabuza is an S-class (highest rank) ninja and way above the groups ability to deal with. Recognizing this Kakashi takes Zabuza on for himself revealing that he himself has a sharingan. This causes interest in Sasuke towards Kakashi as the sharingan is supposed to be an Uchiha kekkei genkai (inherited family trait). During the battle Zabuza uses a technique that covers the battlefield in a thick mist. While in the jutsu Sasuke begins to freak in panic as he can feel Zabuza's bloodlust radiating through the mist. Sasuke says to himself that it would be better to die than feel this as his hands start to tremble, but it is Kakashi's reassurances that calm the Uchiha has the jonin tells the group that he won't let his friends die. As the battle continues, Kakashi becomes ensnared in Zabuza's water prison jutsu. It seems things are hopeless but displaying, for the first time, their ability to work together Naruto and Sasuke come up with a plan to free Kakashi. With Kakashi free from the prison, their mentor is free to continue the battle with Zabuza. It comes to the death blows, when from out of seemingly nowhere, another ninja attacks Zabuza with senbon (acupuncture needles). We come to later know this ninja as Haku, a young male ninja who is actually partners with Zabuza. The pair leaves leaving the group in relative peace.

Later, when the group is at Tazuna's house, Kakashi, who is currently inhabilitated since the sharingan takes a lot of chakra out of him, puts the three genin to training. This particular training involves perpendicularly climbing trees using only their feet and chakra. The exercise is meant to help the three with chakra control and surprisingly Sakura is the best at it. Sasuke is right behind her however, but as the training commences it's obvious that Naruto is catching up quick. Naruto had asked Sakura early for some tips on how to do better at the exercise, and seeing how Naruto was in fact catching up quickly, Sasuke swallows his pride and asks Naruto for help. There is a light blush on the young Uchiha's face that is quickly wiped off as Naruto turns him down. Competitive nature's at work again the two push themselves to their very limits, even to the point of near exhaustion and throwing up. At one point, Sakura and Kakashi go to check on the two, and Naruto nearly cracks his skull on the forest floor while showing off from at least two stories up. Sasuke zips in however as catches the blonde by an ankle barely rescuing his teammate. Sasuke and Naruto both seem pleased with themselves and eventually the two make it to the very top of their trees at approximately the same time.

The following day, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi go with Tazuna to the bridge to guard him while he works. It seems that Zabuza and Haku are ready to fight them and the final battle of the Land of Waves arc ensues. Sasuke volunteers to fight Haku and quickly learns that Haku is his match and possibly best. Haku attacks Sasuke with a technique called One-thousand Needles of Death which comprises of solidified water in the form of senbon. Sasuke successfully dodges the attack and lands a hit on Haku. Sasuke's victory doesn't last long however as the Uchiha finds himself trapped within Haku's kekkei genkai, the Crystal Ice Mirrors. The literal ice mirrors form a down around Sasuke. Each mirror serves as a teleport point from which Haku can move quickly from one to the other effectively creating the illusion of there being many Haku's. Haku repeatedly attacks Sasuke with his senbon but he never once makes a killing move, rather the needles graze across Sasuke's skin. Sakura realizes the predicament Sasuke is in and tries to help her comrade by throwing a kunai towards Sasuke so that he'll have a weapon at his disposal. Haku catches the kunai but while the ninja is busy a shuriken comes from nowhere and knocks Haku from the mirrors. Naruto has arrived on the scene.

When Naruto see's where Sasuke is, things go from bad to worse. In a brilliant move, the blonde puts himself inside the ice mirrors effectively trapping himself. Too bad for Naruto, he's nowhere near fast enough to avoid Haku. In a semi-desperate attempt to free the both of them, Naruto creates multiple shadow clones to attack the ice mirrors but to no avail. The blonde tries the same move over and over and each time it doesn't work, but Naruto's doing this does have some good, it gives Sasuke a chance to watch Haku's movements over and over. Little by little Sasuke slowly begins to see Haku's movements. Sasuke tries to devise a plan to get Naruto and himself out of the mirrors but Haku is one step ahead yet again. Haku has already injured Naruto to the point of immobility and as the young ninja passes out Haku notes that Sasuke's doing everything he can to protect Naruto. It is during this time that Sasuke's sharingan awakens and his ability to see Haku's movements increases even more. He moves Naruto to a point of safety as best he can, but before he can make his move Haku throws senbon at Naruto in a killing move. Sasuke see's it and runs to protect his friend taking the blow himself. When Naruto finally comes to it's to see Sasuke standing above him with his back to the blonde. There are senbon protruding from Sasuke's body in various places and blood is dripping to the wet ground. There's a small smile on Sasuke's face as memories of his and Naruto's time together flits through his head. The small smile is still on his face as Sasuke collapses into Naruto's arms. Naruto questions why Sasuke would protect him when Naruto never asked for Sasuke's help. Sasuke merely replies that his body moved of it's own. He also tells Naruto that the man he swore to kill was his brother Itachi, and that he'd always refused to die, no matter what, until he could meet his brother again and avenge his clan. His final words to Naruto are “don't die”. His words are faint, as the Uchiha closes his eyes and slips into darkness.

[Personality]: Sasuke has a rather brooding personality which is quite understandable considering his past. The young Uchiha has stated once, that rather than having ambitions he has a goal that all his ambitions point to and that is the killing of a specific man. For approximately 6 years of his life Sasuke has been plagued by the memory of the night his brother, Uchiha Itachi, single-handedly murdered his entire family. That night would leave a permanent stain on Sasuke's personality as well as his future as every move the Uchiha makes leads to Sasuke killing Itachi. His older brother didn't help things much, as the night Itachi killed their parents, he gave Sasuke a very specific goal. Sasuke is now obsessed with becoming stronger so that once he meets Itachi he can kill his older brother. Prior to this event, Sasuke was always struggling under his brother's shadow. The older Uchiha had been a prodigy and while Sasuke is a genius he's still beneath Itachi in skill. Sasuke was constantly striving to reach recognition from his father for the tasks he'd complete, such as being the best in his class. This urge to become the best and move out from under Itachi's shadow has placed Sasuke as one of the top ninjas in his class. (Sasuke is known as the number one rookie ninja in Konohakagure.)

Because Sasuke's upbringing was very strict and impersonal, the young Uchiha has very little tolerance for idiocy. It's a slap in the face that he would be placed in a cell with the number one maverick ninja, Uzumaki Naruto a boy known for his pranks and generally idiotic demeanor. It would seem that neither Naruto or Sasuke can stand the other though they learn to co-exist. At the end of the Land of Waves arc, Sasuke has learned to work well with Naruto and though the two constantly bicker they are a strong fighting force when teamed up. Prior to the Land of Waves arc, Sasuke and Naruto hate each other. This is not an understatement as both boys proclaimed such sentiments in the latter half of the Land of Waves arc. Consequently the two are bitter rivals. This in turn has some interesting consequences, among them are the both of them constantly pushing each other to become stronger even if it is in a subconscious manner.

Though the two rivals despise each other, it is interesting to note that since the both of them grew up without parents (though Sasuke did have his parents with him for the first 6 or so years of his life) they both understand the true meaning of being alone. Because of this Sasuke does have a small amount of respect for Naruto though it still doesn't give the blond ninja reason to act like an idiot—in Sasuke's eyes.

Sasuke has gotten in the habit of almost consistently calling Naruto dobe (idiot/dumb) as well as usuratonkachi (loosely translated as stupid fox). In it's own way the words have become catchphrases of Sasuke towards Naruto. (The both are somewhat a terms of endearment.)

Sasuke is very much the silent type. He's not one to waste his words, and often times he would prefer to be alone. His main concern when he learned that he and the rest of his schoolmates would be made into three man teams was that his comrades would slow him down. Despite Sasuke's brooding nature it is possible for him to make friends. At the end of the Land of Waves arc, Sasuke uses his own body to shield Naruto's from an attack that would have likely killed the blond ninja. Though Sasuke doesn't admit it, Haku (the enemy whom Sasuke and Naruto are fighting) acknowledges that Sasuke did it to save the life of someone he cares about. During the battle, Sasuke also takes the time to move Naruto out of harms way when Haku's senbon have rendered Naruto immobile. Sasuke also gains a bond with his other cell mate, Sakura. He comes to realize that despite her 'annoying' nature (Sakura had made a flippant remark about Naruto's prankster nature being a direct result of him not having parents—this made Sasuke angry) she is actually very smart and skilled.

When necessary, it's also quite possible for Sasuke to swallow his pride, which he has a lot of, and ask for help. He does this once, asking Naruto for help with the chakra training they're currently doing—Naruto turns him down.

Sasuke's favorite foods are tomatoes and onigiri and he hates anything sweet. Some of Sasuke's favorite pastimes are training and taking walks. Though he doesn't do it often he also enjoys playing a flute like object called a shinobue. Though the Uchiha would never admit who it was with, the young ninja has already shared his first kiss—with Uzumaki Naruto (it was an accident). Sasuke also tends to let his guard down while he's eating. During one of their first encounters Naruto actually get's the jump on the Uchiha while Sasuke is enjoying his lunch. It's doubtful if Sasuke will let it happen again.

[Abilities/Powers]: Fireball style jutsu—A chakra based attack. The user makes a series of hand signs to help focus their chakra and then places their forefinger and thumb to their mouth to help guide the flame. As the user breathes out a large fireball will issue forth. This technique works similar to a modern day flamethrower and is just as deadly. The technique is unique to the Uchiha clan as most of them are fire chakra users. In the Uchiha clan it is considered a right of passage for the ninja's in training to learn to use the technique. This is because using the technique requires a large amount of chakra as well as a good amount of control of said chakra for the move to be performed correctly. Sasuke accomplished this act when he was 6 or 7.

The Sharingan—A kekkei genkai (inherited ability) of the Uchiha clan. Only members of the Uchiha family can use the sharingan and even then not all members of the family will receive the ability. It is expected that all ninja's of the Uchiha clan will be able to use the sharingan. With the Sharingan an Uchiha can copy any taijutsu (physical ability), genjutsu (illusion ability), or ninjutsu (chakra abilities). This is of course within reason of the users own personal abilities. For example: if an enemy performs a taijutsu that requires a great amount of speed and strength the user of the sharingan will only be able to perform the move as their own strength and speed will allow. Later in the series this is shown when Sasuke copies Rock Lee's lotus technique. Sasuke is not as strong or fast as Lee therefore the attack has a lower power and strength.

Sasuke does however have incredible speed he is able to keep up with Haku for the most part until his stamina started to wear down thanks to Haku's speed being greater. Sasuke also has a large reserve of chakra though it is not nearly as much as Naruto's. Sasuke is also a genius. He can easily assess a situation and develop a plan in a short amount of time.

[Position]: Runner
[Why this position?]: Sasuke's not exactly a child by his canon's standards, but by everyone elses he would be. Besides with an attitude like that he could stand to go to the Word Mart classes.

[Journal Entry Sample]: [ Sasuke's eyes were opened wide as he stared down at his hands. The WM was lying to the side on the floor to provide the viewer with a worm's eye view of the young boy. He seemed more surprised than anything as he looked over the rest of his body as if expecting something to be wrong with it.

[ Opening your eyes to find all your wounds gone was a shock for anyone and Sasuke was more than surprised. ]

What is this place?

[ Right on queue the WM starts playing, welcoming Sasuke to his new life. The surprised look quickly goes from annoyed to downright pissed off. ]

Is this some kind of joke?

[ No joke. Sasuke gets up to look out the window across the way and the scene he sees is more than enough to prove that what the WM broadcast is real. Sasuke backs up quickly away from the window. ]

What...How is this possible?

[ Sasuke started pacing a bit around the room as if trying to figure out what may have happened, but there's really no clear answer accept what was given him. He sat down on his bed and glared daggers at the WM now realizing that it was recording this whole time. ]

Don't think I'll give in so easily.

[ He reaches over and turns off the device. ]

[Prose Sample]: Sasuke stood at the edge of the parking lot with his arms crossed. The sun was just starting to set and as usually happened at this time of night the majority of the hover carts were milling about the parking lot instead of inside where they belonged. The pre dinner rush usually left the parking lot looking like this and the sight caused Sasuke's eyes to narrow in disgust.

He hated this place.

Never mind that he'd been pulled from his world at a moment when he might as well have been dead, but that he was now regulated to this menial task was downright insulting.

Sure he'd done his fair share of grunt work back in Konoha before they were allowed a real mission, but he'd hated those just as much. It wasn't a show of the real strength he had and neither was this. It didn't take much to catch the carts and get them back into the store, there was no challenge to it, none at all.

Sasuke let out a sigh before finally stepping out to get rid of the carts that were piling up. No sense in prolonging the inevitable. Not doing your work was far more irritating than getting stuck with it in the first place. In a burst of speed Sasuke ran out onto the parking lot. He grabbed the first cart and maneuvered it towards the next. Within moments the carts that had been littering the lot were lined up in a perfect row and being pushed back towards home.

As he'd thought -- pointless and hardly a challenge.
